DESCRIPTION:
Dutch Friesland hooded staartklok or "tail" clock, weight driven, intact with rolling moon dial and alarm; embossed brass depictions of the 4 seasons in spandrel areas.
CONDITION:
this clock came to us from Dr. Hugh Grant Rowell, collection, and has been in the US for nearly a century. Although it is dirty and the dial needs restoration and touch up, it is a good period clock. There are no ornaments for hood [usually 3], glass missing from right hood window. Around 25 years ago the Dutch began making new clocks in the antique style and those are easily confused with period items.
